A NEW DEBUT (NEWS)

The overall winner this year was student Lily Langford! Her ‘Psychedelic Debut’ will soon replace last year’s winning design ‘Venus’ Debut’ by Bryony Finnigan.

The brief was to design the next label for Triple Point Brewing’s internationally-distributed ‘Debut IPA’, to be printed on the cans as well as getting reformatted for keg and pump clips.

The title of the beer served as the theme for the project, as students were challenged to create an original design that not only tells a story of a debut (be it in sport, art, music, scientific, fiction or otherwise), but one that also stood out and would work well on a cylindrical surface.

The brief ran with 2nd and 3rd year BA Illustration students, and this year we also invited 3rd year BA Graphic Design students to join in.

There were over 80 design submissions in total, which were all printed and exhibited at Triple Point Brewery + Bar, where attendees were able to vote for their favourite. Following the event, a second vote to decide the winner of the top 2, plus the brewery’s additional 2 favourite, designs was held online.
